Wilderness, Waterfalls and Wildlife

Experience a day of Tasmania’s natural highlights — from lush rainforests and cascading waterfalls to up-close encounters with native wildlife. This tour combines easy forest walks, dramatic scenery, and unforgettable wildlife experiences, offering a perfect snapshot of the island’s world-renowned wilderness — all within a short drive from Hobart.

We enjoy some of Tasmania’s “Great Short Walks” at Mt. Field National Park, just a 90 minute drive from Hobart waterfront. We stop along the way to meet some of our local wildlife at the Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary.

Mt. Field is Tasmania’s oldest national park, best known for the beautiful three-tiered Russell Falls. This is one of Tasmania’s Great Short Walks, featuring an easy walking track that meanders beside a quiet stream through stunning forest. From Russell Falls, you have the option to climb the stairs to Horseshoe Falls — lesser known, but equally breathtaking in its peaceful rainforest setting.

We then drive further into the national park to explore another of Tasmania’s Great Short Walks. Towering above us are the Tall Trees as we walk the Tall Trees Track. Local swamp gums reach up to 80 metres high, and these Giants of the Forest are truly magnificent to walk among.

We enjoy a lunch break in one of the many beautiful settings at Mt. Field before continuing on with our day.

From Mt. Field, we make our way to Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, a place dedicated to the care and rehabilitation of Tasmania’s native animals. Here, we have the chance to meet some of the island’s most iconic wildlife up close — including Tasmanian devils, wombats, and kangaroos. The sanctuary offers a rare opportunity to learn about these unique species and the conservation efforts helping to protect them.

This is a fantastic day out exploring many of Tasmania’s most unique experiences, rainforests, waterfalls, wildlife and fabulous scenery.

We return you to the Hobart Waterfront/Cruise Terminal.
