Port Arthur & Tassie Devils (Hobart Shore Excursion )

Today we depart Hobart at 8.45am and head to the Tasman Peninsula, home to Australia’s highest sea cliffs and stunning coastal scenery.  Along the way, we take time to enjoy a short stop at Pirates Bay Lookout.  The lookout provides a vantage point from where you can see & understand the surrounding landscape.  You will see why the area presented as an excellent site for a convict settlement.

From here we will visit the Tasmanian Devil Unzoo where you will encounter extraordinary native wildlife.  Wander the extensive grounds and hand feed some of the resident and wild native animals.    Join the expert Unzoo staff for the snarling action of a Tasmanian Devil feeding and presentation.  A wildlife encounter you will never forget!

From here we head to the Port Arthur Historic Site.  Port Arthur has over 30 buildings, ruins and restored period homes set in 40 hectares of landscaped grounds.  We have around 2.5 hours available to experience Port Arthur.  Walk amongst the main penitentiary; see the solitary confinement cells discover the rich history and beautiful surrounds of this evocative World Heritage open air museum. Deemed an inescapable prison your visit here will unveil the grim and violent history of the early Australian Penal system. This fascinating visit will give you great insight into what it was like to be sent to Van Diemen’s Land as a convict.  Your entry to Port Arthur includes a walking tour with one of Port Arthur expert guides.  Your entry also includes a complimentary Harbour Cruise around the Isle of the Dead.

We return directly to Hobart and drop you off the Cruise Terminal/Hobart Wharf area as you please. Our return time is scheduled for 4.00 – 5.00pm

Pick Up Details

We will pick you up from the Hobart Travel and Information Centre, 20 Davey Street, Hobart. The information centre is the on the corner of Elizabeth and Davey Streets. It is a very short walk from the Cruise Terminal. Please try to arrive around 8.40am ready to meet Tours Tasmania and depart at 8.45 am.
